Cellulosic films obtained from the treatment of sugarcane bagasse fibers with N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO).
Ethanol/water organosolv pulping was used to obtain sugarcane bagasse pulp that was bleached with sodium chlorite. This bleached pulp was used to obtain cellulosic films that were further evaluated by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A good film formation was observed when temperature of 74 degrees C and ba...

متن کاملCorrelating physical changes and enhanced enzymatic saccharification of pine flour pretreated by N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide.
Pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass by N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO), a solvent used in the textile industry to dissolve cellulose for production of regenerated cellulose fibers, was observed to enhance significantly enzymatic saccharification and fermentation. The enhancement was speculated to have been caused by reduced cellulose crystallinity after dissolution and precipitation proce...
متن کاملBacterial bioaugmentation for improving methane and hydrogen production from microalgae
BACKGROUND The recalcitrant cell walls of microalgae may limit their digestibility for bioenergy production. Considering that cellulose contributes to the cell wall recalcitrance of the microalgae Chlorella vulgaris, this study investigated bioaugmentation with a cellulolytic and hydrogenogenic bacterium, Clostridium thermocellum, at different inoculum ratios as a possible method to improve CH4...
متن کاملA green and highly effective protocol for the synthesis of N,N′-alkylidene bisamides using saccharin-N-sulfonic acid
A green and highly effective solvent-free protocol has been reported for the synthesis of N,N′-alkylidene bisamides via the reaction of arylaldehydes (1 eq.) with primary amides (2 eq.) in the presence of saccharin-N-sulfonic acid (SaSA) as a solid-acid catalyst. The mentioned compounds have been obtained in high yields and short reaction times.
